Hotel Reviews The Carmel Valley Ranch and Spa
A Relaxing Getaway in Northern California
Carmel Valley Ranch is a beautiful and comfortable retreat located near Carmel-by-the-Sea. This resort offers something for couples, solo travelers or families and or could be a great luxurious spa getaway or a gorgeous golf retreat.
Its inland location can sometimes be a little warmer than staying by the beach, but you will still get a refreshing breeze while you are surrounded by rolling hills and vineyards.
The Bottom Line
This is a lovely hotel that offers something for everyone. It’s a great destination resort for a few days of R&R.

Hotel Review
I enjoyed my stay at this Carmel Valley resort. The grounds are beautiful and offer a luxurious but intimate feel. The property encompasses a large area, and your stay includes access to the River Ranch Club nearby.
The accommodations range from well-appointed guestroom suites to villas. Some rooms have private plunge pools. Most rooms have a beautiful view of surrounding hills. This property is perfect for couples or solo travelers that are seeking seclusion, but the variety of activities can also cater to families. I also think this would be a great venue for a girl’s spa getaway or a guy’s golf weekend (or vice versa!)
If you want to relax, there is a gorgeous adult pool area that is perfect for reading or a luxurious spa for a little pampering. If you prefer a little more action, there is a family-oriented pool as well as numerous daily activities that are included in your accommodation rate.
The activities vary daily, but can include everything from yoga, lavender picking, hiking or even helping take care of bees! There are some activities that are an additional fee (such as $40 for a 1-hour pickleball lesson). All the activities can be viewed here.
The property has 3 hiking trails, varying from a 1.6 mile easy-moderate course to a 2.8 mile moderate to strenuous one. There is a petting zoo on property and a kids club for those with families to enjoy. An overview of all the amenities can be seen on this map of the property.

TIPS
- Make reservations for breakfast because restaurant gets crowded during peak times.
- The Yoga on a hill requires a short hike, so wear comfortable shoes, but it is worth it!
- Most activities do not require reservations, but we suggest checking the schedule online and reserve the paid activities (such as pickleball) that may fill up.
- Extend your vacation with stay at Paso Robles to enjoy the Sensorio light show.
